Cass330 Rare Posted January 27 Posted January 27 (edited) An IP address is like your home address on your phone. Changing your IP address allows you to protect your privacy while enjoying online services. For example, if you're watching a movie on Netflix and can't watch it due to network issues, you'll need to change your IP address to access the target website. I. How to Manually Change Your IP Address on an iPhone? Manually changing your IP address on your iPhone is the most basic way to configure your device's IP address. However, this method only works if you have a static IP address, because dynamic IP addresses change automatically—manual changes will override any changes you make. If you want to manually change your IP address, you need to choose an IP address that matches your network range. You can find these IP addresses in Router Changes. 1. Open "Changes" on your iOS device, tap "Wi-Fi," and then select the Wi-Fi network you are connected to. 2. Scroll down and tap "Configure IP" under IPv4 address, then select "Manual." Then, enter the desired IP address and tap "Save" to complete the change. Please note that not all ISP offer the option to change your IP address on demand. Even if they do, it's not a permanent solution. This service may also require additional payment. II. How to Change Your IP Address on Your iPhone Using Tor Browser Using Tor Browser is another way to change your public IP address, especially if privacy is a primary concern. Tor routes your internet traffic through multiple servers (called nodes). By routing internet traffic to a network of servers (called nodes or relays), Tor masks your IP address, making your traffic appear to originate from a final network node, rather than your actual location. 1. Download a Tor Browser app, such as Onion Browser, from the App Store. 2. Open Tor Browser on your iPhone. 3. You can then browse the web normally—your real IP address will be automatically assigned to the server. You may find the Tor browsing experience choppy and page loading slow. This is normal—it's because your internet data is routed more circuitously through multiple nodes. III. How to Change Your iPhone's IP Address Using a Proxy Server Of course, you can also use a proxy server to change your IP address on your iOS device. The proxy will assign you a new public IP address from one of its proxy servers. Therefore, when you send requests, they will pass through the proxy server to reach their destination, thus masking your real location and identity. 1. Go to "Change" > "Wi-Fi," and then tap the "i" button next to the network you are using. Scroll down and select "Configure Proxy." 2. Change to Manual, enter the server and port information, and then save your changes. Please note that your server and port information depends on the specific server you are using. The server information refers to the IP address of your proxy server. For secure browsing, use port 443, which uses the HTTPS protocol and provides a more secure internet connection. There are many proxy providers on the market, and Luna Proxy stands out with its high-quality service and low prices. IV. Advantages and Disadvantages of Changing Your IP Address Advantages 1. Privacy Protection: Hides your real geographical location from websites, advertisers, and hackers. 2. Location Resolution: Unlocks Netflix shows or apps exclusive to other countries. 3. Network Issue Resolution: Your public IP address makes it harder for hackers to compromise your device through insecure networks. 4. Avoiding Monitoring Tracks: Changing your IP address helps you avoid being tracked by websites and online services, enhancing your privacy and reducing the collection of your browsing data. Disadvantages: 1. Configuration Risk: Manually changing your IP address incorrectly may cause network outages (requires a reset to resolve). 2. Speed Impact: Depending on the method used, changing your IP address may cause slower internet speeds or connection problems. 3. Security Vulnerability: According to reports, some free proxies may collect user data during this period, therefore, using a paid proxy is recommended. V. Summary While there are various ways to change your iPhone's IP address, using a proxy is likely the fastest, simplest, and most secure method. Edited February 11 by Cass330 1
